I am a fan of lightning

Listening to the news and at last it comes to weather forcasting, sharpen my ears and focus on what they say : we would have a thunderstorm... "oh my god, it might be alittle dangerous ! " its the first thing which comes in out minds but i appreciate it cause i can see some great lightnings again.

in my childhood, when it was raining with thunder and lightning, i used to sit by my dad. a quick lighten in the sky made the black dark sky shocked, dad started counting 1..2..3..4.... and the thunder. then he calculated and said : wow the clouds are so close just by .... meter far from us.

i have always been a fan of those scientific TV programs which they try to direct the lightnings into their research places, or when they try to calculate the electricity power of each lighten and thats why i love togo out, stand and watch the lightnings and thunderstorm.

How lightning initially forms is still a matter of debate: Scientists have studied root causes ranging from atmospheric perturbations (wind, humidity, friction, and atmospheric pressure) to the impact of solar wind and accumulation of charged solar particles. Ice inside a cloud is thought to be a key element in lightning development, and may cause a forcible separation of positive and negative charges within the cloud, thus assisting in the formation of lightning.

I dont know how much you do pay attention to the shapes and type of the beautiful lightnings which brighten the sky specially in india nowadays but they are classified into different types as below :

  1. Cloud-to-ground lightning

  2. Bead lightning

  3. Ribbon lightning

  4. Staccato lightning

  5. Fork lightning

  6. Ground-to-cloud lightning

  7. Cloud-to-cloud lightning

  8. Sheet lightning

  9. Heat lightning

  10. Dry lightning

  11. Rocket lightning

  12. Positive lightning

  13. Ball lightning

  14. Upper-atmospheric lightning

Those who study physics, electronic and like that might know something about the lightning, measuring its power or the history of studying about it. but more, there are some scientific groups mostly including the lightning fans (which are usually crazy and courageous people) who study this natural beauty in various levels of amateur to professional. these studying started from 18th century with those like benjamin franklin, thomas dalibard, george richman in russia and so on.

now adays its not only a sebject of scinece studies, but the study of art to capture beautiful scenes for photo graphers and documentary movie makers, painters etc.
